Artist | Jon Ross
Artist Story | Jon Ross, a veteran film and television editor, now channels his storytelling expertise into photography. Starting with Colorado landscapes, he now focuses on vibrant street photography and cityscapes in Lisbon, Portugal.
Artwork Narrative | The Baltimore Key Bridge, originally named the Outer Harbor Crossing, was renamed in 1976 as the Francis Scott Key Bridge in honor of the poet who wrote the lyrics to the U.S. national anthem. Ross's depiction of the bridge is both striking and captivating, with a monochromatic palette that evokes an atmospheric, almost brooding emotion. One can almost feel the gusts of wind swirling above the water as birds soar overhead. Sadly, this iconic Maryland landmark collapsed on March 26, 2024, after a container ship struck one of its piers. Plans are currently underway to replace the bridge, with completion expected by autumn 2028.
